Rural Utopias Assistant Producers: Spotlight on Georgie Mattingley’s Team

Georgie Mattingley has been supported through her Rural Utopias residency by a team of Assistant Producers. Learn more about Tim Neeson, Owen Hinton, and Margaret Ellen Burns.
Tim Neeson wears many hats and does a bit of everything to promote community wellbeing. Based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, he has over 25 years in the tech industry and has lived or worked across Australia, NZ, PNG and Nauru Island. Tim thinks outside the box, designing programs and festivals for abandoned mine sites that focus on land rehabilitation, arts, music, sport and a celebration of culture in general.
Owen Hinton has more than 10 years of experience working and volunteering in community events and arts in regional WA. He has worked in youth event and project co-ordination for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Country Arts and often performs at the Goldfields Repertory Club where he has also co-produced original works and is currently directing a youth musical.
Margaret Ellen Burns is a portrait photographer based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Some of her photographic projects span multiple years of documentation with community, including her project 1000 bedrooms. Over the past 12 months she developed a photographic series called ‘No Photos of the Girls’ featuring portraits and recorded interviews with Kalgoorlie Skimpies. One of these portraits recently won her the title of ‘Best Photograph’ at the 2022 Kalgoorlie Art Prize.
