Know Thy Neighbour #3 event: Olga Cironis’ The Stories We Live By

Olga Cironis is currently working with the community of Armadale. This residency forms part of one of Spaced’s current programs, Know Thy Neighbour #3.

Olga Cironis is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the murky undertones and impact that history and memory have on personal and shared identity. She examines the notions of belonging in today’s cultural globalisation — in particular, appropriated histories and accepted attitudes on belonging in the Australian cultural and social landscape.

As part of Spaced’s Know Thy Neighbour #3 program with the City of Armadale, Olga Cironis invites you to contribute to her participatory work: The Stories We Live By, which will explore the relationships that locals of the Harrisdale and Piara Waters areas have to their place of dwelling, and therefore, to each other.

Across a number of encounters, Cironis will invite passers-by at the locations listed below to sit with her, have their portrait taken and reflect on their connection to home.

The culmination of this work will be a short film consisting of the portraits, the stories and various footage from Cironis’ journey around the town’s urban developments. This will be projected in a prominent location yet to be announced.

To get involved, you can meet Olga at the following sites:

Napoli Mercato | Sat 17 Sept, 10am - 12pm
Bunnings Harrisdale | Sat 17 Sept, 12pm - 2pm

Or, stay up to date via our Facebook event.
